What you can do

Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving

The scuba diving in Tofo is truly world class. Conditions are good for diving all year round. The summer months are best for seeing whalesharks. Although they are here all year, November to March are the best months to see them and the water is warm – around 28 degrees centigrade.

During the winter months – April to October – there are humpback whales in the area and these can be spotted daily. Giant manta rays of a species so far seen only in these waters can be found on sites such as Manta Reef, The Oasis and Amazon.

Surfing & Surfing Lessons

Tofinho beach is renowned for being the surf capital of Mozambique. The waves in Tofo are perfect for beginners and for the more experienced, go to Tofinho and Back Door beaches. If you don’t have your board you can rent one from The Waterworks Surf and Coffee Shop.

We also offer surf specials. Please contact us for more details.

Fishing & Whale Safari

There is some excellent fishing to be done in Tofinho, both from the shore or boat and the area is known for its good game fishing. You need to bring your own equipment if you are fishing from shore but there are various fishing charters available that will take you out by boat for a chance to catch the big ones. The headland at Tofinho is a favourite with both locals and visitors

Tofo Scuba – Ocean Safari’s

Ocean Safari’s are a 2-hour snorkelling trip, out on the boat, zig-zagging along our southern coastline looking out for anything we can find! All year round we see sporadic, but consistent sightings of whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and even turtles breaching the surface! Humpbacks are also around from June to September. The meet time for Ocean Safari is 1030 every day.

A Divemaster will be accompanying you out on the boat to give you information on the wildlife and advise on swimming behaviour and when is best to enter the water with the animals.
